I don't need scientists to tell me that the climate is changing. I have felt it for myself.
Castlemaine, VIC
I was born in 1955. I moved from Brisbane to Melbourne permanently in 1975 partly to get away from the Sub-Tropical conditions.
I had lived in Geelong in my early childhood and Werribee for two years in the early 70s. In 1996 and every year after that I noticed the weather becoming more humid around October and November.
By the following February the ‘normal’ dry heat of summer returned. This was a novel experience. Ever since we have had high rates of humidity like Brisbane summers almost every year. Even when I moved to Castlemaine the sub-tropical heat seemed to follow me. Now it can be hot and humid in January and February.
In the last year I have experienced ‘horizontal’ rain coming from the north twice. For some years we have experienced dry ‘cool changes- something that just never happened in my childhood in Victoria. Torrential rain is now a regular feature of life in Castlemaine.
I don’t need scientists to tell me that the climate is changing. I have felt it for myself.
