Peta’s story

Tallebudgera Valley, QLD

  • Drought
  • Fire
  • Flood
  • Health
  • Heatwave
  • Nature
  • Storms

On top of general heatwaves, record breaking seasonal temperatures, floods, freak storms and the most disappointing ski season we have ever had, the biggest impact to our family is my 8year olds mental health. He sees the news and what is happening with the climate. He learns about changes and climate change at school and almost every night when the lights have been turned off he says ‘mum I’m worried, why is nobody doing anything about climate change?’ ‘Mum what will happen to us if this keeps changing this fast?’ ‘Mum what can we do it actually make a difference?’ At least once a week he cries in disparity. We haven’t put this worry and fear in him, he is smart and open to see what is happening in the world.

Glenn's story

Bundaberg, QLD

  • Heatwave

The heat had made virtually every turtle hatchling a FEMALE. So these mainly female turtles will roam the many dangers of the ocean looking for an elusive male turtle.
