In the last two decades I have experienced drought, severe storms, flood, and heatwaves and they, of course, take their tolls in practical ways like restricting movement and property damage. However what’s less visible is the mental health toll for people like me who are sensitive to the knowledge that we are living in a time of climate change induced dying. Dying fauna and flora, dying landscapes, dying culture, dying people. Thinking of the unrecognised loss now brings tears to my eyes. My despair became clinical depression in 2019 and I received treatment and recovered the environment, people and their culture won’t recover if we don’t face the emergency and make deep cuts rapidly in our greenhouse gas emissions. The governments of Australia must do more for all living things everywhere.
Hundreds of people from across the country are sharing their stories to send a clear message to the Australian government - it's time for real action on climate change.

I moved to wingham from Sydney 6 years ago in that time we have experienced fire drought and flood in this are. I knew people whose houses burnt down snd one woman whose sister died in the fires. My daughter’s house flooded and as animal carers with FAWNA we’ve seen the effects on wild life as well. I was already very concerned about the climate and ecology and extinction but much more aware of it now. I am involved with knitting nannas extinction rebellion and blockade Australia because I feel I have to do what I can.
People all across Australia are being harmed by climate change. These are some of their stories.
