During the February 2022 floods my car was being serviced at a service station that was inundated. The car was a write off. So even though our home was not flooded I suffered a loss – financial and mental health-wise. It was traumatic being without a car. I live in an isolated area and need a car – the nearest village shop is 10 km away. I am 67. Second hand car prices were at a premium after the flood – and difficult to find in my price range. I ended up being ripped off – I was sold a car (by a “reputable” dealer) that had mechanical issues and had to sell it at great loss.
