Rona’s story

My husband and I, 79 and 76, have been impacted by increased water and power bills, used retirement savings to 1. put in an air-conditioner with the hotter summer seasons, 2. change from gas to electric heat bank hot water systems and electric induction stove hotplates and 3. put in solar panels – costing us $11,000 (even with government subsidies for solar) which we are unlikely to recoup before we die. The power costs are due to no or slow government on stopping new fossil fuel projects and supporting renewables. The Fossil Fuels interests are being put before the common good of all citizens and we need truth in media laws for government, political parties and all forms of media (print, radio and online esp social media.
